Blacksburg Logo Design

Virtually every new Blacksburg organization knows they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly comprehend the pivotal role their logo design can play in their financial success, or exactly why one logo performs better than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting effect on the financial success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Blacksburg businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be realized in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Blacksburg coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an old section of the area and wanted to cast a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by means of developing a trademark concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Blacksburg clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable facility in Blacksburg.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Blacksburg travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Blacksburg logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Blacksburg logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Blacksburg book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most necessary part of a printed book considering that it is often the initial thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many cases one of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Blacksburg logo layout utilized for advertising and marketing and also a label style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Blacksburg, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo which carried a feeling of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian steed logo layout created for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct organization logo concept customized to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. With a distinctive head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable equine breeds in the world.

Las Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, layout consists of a modified script font style which floats above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software application designer the design features as well as legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Blacksburg logo dsign using an illustration which garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Blacksburg area farm it was really created for an investments broker, and this trademark was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to generate a graphic that projected confidence, success, and opulence.
Logo created for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
