Lake Ridge, Virginia Logo Design

Every new Lake Ridge venture knows they need a logo, however few new business owners entirely are aware of the key role their company logo will perform in their success, or why one logo performs better than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lake Ridge, Virginia companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Lake Ridge, Virginia coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an old part of the community and wished to cast a nostalgic feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via creating a sign design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs created for Lake Ridge, Virginia clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun center in Lake Ridge, Virginia.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Lake Ridge, Virginia travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lake Ridge logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lake Ridge logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Lake Ridge, Virginia book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems like that in many cases 1 of the traits people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to confering a spirit of flight and it was surely a winner.

Lake Ridge logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Lake Ridge, Virginia, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it seems that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually enjoy doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that communicated an atmosphere of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead designed a company logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, style contains a modified manuscript typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software developer the layout attributes and also renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Lake Ridge logo design dsign utilizing a graphic that grabs the interest of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Lake Ridge, Virginia regional farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this creative logo was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to develop an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and wealth.

Lake Ridge Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design designed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is evocative a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
