Virginia Beach, Virginia Logo Design

Nearly every new Virginia Beach company knows they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully realize the vital role their company logo can play in their financial success, or precisely why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term influence on the viability of a business, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Virginia Beach, Virginia businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.
Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Virginia Beach, Virginia coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older section of town and wished to project a vintage tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by developing a company logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs created for Virginia Beach, Virginia clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory assessment of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Virginia Beach, Virginia traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Virginia Beach logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Virginia Beach logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial assessments on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Virginia Beach, Virginia book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is often the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects consumers often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Virginia Beach logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Virginia Beach, Virginia, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which projected a spirit of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but instead designed a company logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the design features as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Virginia Beach logo dsign along with an image which captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Virginia Beach Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo created for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a popular sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
