TIPS FOR PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the amount of time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain real life examples odds are they will not be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Aberdeen LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brands. We’ve done brand identity design work for ranchers, schools, diamond miners, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered regardless of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are hired to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we take on, logo, business website, trade show booth, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s projects to agencies located outside the USA. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your project and determines the terms of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Aberdeen organization knows they require a logo, but few start-ups thoroughly grasp the key role their company logo will perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo works better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining influence on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Aberdeen businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of marking something to make sure that it could be distinguished, its origin originates from the mark branded onto animals. These days a brand symbolizes pretty much anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone says the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the origin of many branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing firms. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design which helps form the image of a business, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also design web sites and also software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, outcomes as well as understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Aberdeen coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an older section of the city and hoped to visualize a retro vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by means of creating a trademark concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs developed for Aberdeen medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Aberdeen.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Aberdeen traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Aberdeen logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Aberdeen logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Aberdeen publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many instances one of the traits people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was surely a success.

Aberdeen logo style used for marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Aberdeen, design include an arc with lines converging with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it seems that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design developed for a Aberdeen hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that related a feeling of tranquility and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo layout created for an equine ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct brand design styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having an unique head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily identifiable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Aberdeen restaurant logo style a little restaurant, style consists of a customized script font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a changed script font style which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software programmer the style features and also iconic Aberdeen element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Evolve logo style created for a Aberdeenindoor developer, design feature a collection of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Aberdeen interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, site inspections, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Aberdeen, the personalities for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have been modified to connect straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Aberdeen logo design project was done for a leadership guide that enables business professionals to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Aberdeen business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Aberdeen business logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Aberdeen company logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually developed for an Aberdeen regional farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to create an identity that projects self-confidence, financial success, and wealth.

Aberdeen Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for externally dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a famous Aberdeen sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
