Aberdeen, Washington Logo Design

Virtually every new Aberdeen business realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully grasp the crucial role their logo can take in their becoming successful, or why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and long term influence on the growth of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Aberdeen, Washington businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand consideration, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Aberdeen, Washington coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an older section of the town and wished to impart a nostalgic atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs through creating a symbol concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is an enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Aberdeen, Washington clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family members fun facility in Aberdeen, Washington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Aberdeen, Washington travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Aberdeen logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Aberdeen logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s share of obstacles, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Aberdeen, Washington publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many instances one of the things folks tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Aberdeen logo layout used for marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Aberdeen, Washington, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that conveyed a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead created a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software designer the design functions and renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Aberdeen logo design dsign using an illustration that garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Aberdeen, Washington regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to generate a graphic that projects trust, financial success, and opulence.

Aberdeen Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style feature for externally facing arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a well-known sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
