Bainbridge Island Logo Design

Every new Bainbridge Island organization understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully are aware of the crucial role their company logo will play in their success, or the reason that one logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting impact on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Bainbridge Island companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be realized in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Bainbridge Island coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an old part of town and wished to project a nostalgic vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by means of designing a symbol concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Bainbridge Island medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog designed for a household fun facility in Bainbridge Island.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Bainbridge Island traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bainbridge Island logo but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Bainbridge Island logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective judgements on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how important a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Bainbridge Island publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it looks like that in many instances 1 of the traits people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Bainbridge Island logo layout made use of for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Case includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Bainbridge Island, layout include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which carried a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software developer the design features as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Bainbridge Island logo design dsign along with an illustration which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really designed for an Bainbridge Island regional farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this particular company was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create an identity that projects self-assurance, success, and prosperity.
Logo design created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
