Federal Way, Washington Logo Design

Virtually every new Federal Way company knows they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully realize the vital role their organization’s logo will take in their financial success, or why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term impact on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Federal Way, Washington businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Federal Way, Washington coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening up in an old section of the town and wanted to project a nostalgic vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a trademark design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs created for Federal Way, Washington clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog designed for a family enjoyable center in Federal Way, Washington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Federal Way, Washington traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Federal Way logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Federal Way logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get honest viewpoints on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo understand how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of difficulties, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Federal Way, Washington book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many cases one of the items consumers tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a feeling of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Federal Way logo design used for advertising and marketing and a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Federal Way, Washington, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it appears that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which carried an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application developer the layout attributes and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Federal Way business logo dsign with an image which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really developed for an Federal Way, Washington area farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to design a brand mark that projected self-assurance, success, and luxury.

Federal Way Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a well-known sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
