Lacey, Washington Logo Design

Virtually every new Lacey business person realizes that they require a logo, however few new business owners entirely understand the vital role their company logo can play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo works more effectively than another. A company logo has a critical and long term impact on the growth of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Lacey, Washington companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Lacey, Washington coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an older part of the community and wanted to project an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks by creating a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Lacey, Washington clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Lacey, Washington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Lacey, Washington travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lacey logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lacey logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of challenges, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Lacey, Washington publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book considering that it is often the first thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many cases one of the aspects people usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Lacey logo layout utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Lacey, Washington, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which projected a feeling of relaxation and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo layout for a software application designer the layout attributes and also legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Lacey business logo dsign with an image that garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Lacey, Washington regional farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to create a graphic that projects self-confidence, success, and luxury.

Lacey Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is evocative a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
