TIPS FOR DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the amount of time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain real world samples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Lacey LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop unforgettable brands. We have done branding work for farmers, universities, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our brand identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you probably have come across on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the kind of project we undertake, logo design, web page, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties based outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your design project and determines the conditions of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Lacey organization understands that they need a logo, yet few start-ups fully realize the essential role their logo design can perform in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting influence on the viability of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lacey companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to ensure that it can be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto animals. These days a brand represents practically anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals purchase specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of a lot of branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded marketing companies. When somebody claims they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone states “I am in branding”… it just seems more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that lots of people don’t fully understand what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and kind of attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that affect understandings. This largely consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors used yet can also include sound, lights, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps shape the public image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results and also understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Lacey coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older part of the area and really wanted to visualize a retro atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of creating a trademark design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Lacey medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog made for a family members fun center in Lacey.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Lacey traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lacey logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lacey logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased assessments on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Lacey book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the things people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Lacey logo design utilized for advertising and also a tag design for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Lacey, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it appears that almost every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a Lacey hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which communicated a sense of peace and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo design which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo layout developed for a steed ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique business logo design tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With an unique head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable equine types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Lacey restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, design includes a modified script font which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a customized script typeface which floats over a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout functions as well as famous Lacey element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Advance logo design produced for a Laceyinterior developer, design function a series of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lacey interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who plans, researches, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lacey, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been changed to link directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Lacey logo design assignment was completed for a management specialist that helps business leaders to become more effective at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Lacey business logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Lacey logo design design along with an image that captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Lacey company logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really created for an Lacey area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this creative logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to generate a graphic that projected esteem, financial success, and opulence.

Lacey Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is similar to a famous Lacey sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
