Martha Lake Logo Design

Virtually every new Martha Lake venture knows they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners entirely are aware of the pivotal role their logo design can take in their financial success, or exactly why one business logo works far better than another. A logo has a critical and long-term impact on the financial success of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Martha Lake companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be realized in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Martha Lake coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older part of the city and wished to cast an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of creating a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also germs developed for Martha Lake medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog designed for a family members enjoyable center in Martha Lake.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - made for Martha Lake travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Martha Lake logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Martha Lake logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo recognize how important a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s share of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Martha Lake publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a published book because it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Martha Lake logo layout utilized for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Martha Lake, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which conveyed an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo style for a software application designer the layout features as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Martha Lake business logo dsign with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Martha Lake area farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce an identity that projects self-assurance, financial success, and opulence.
Logo design made for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a well-known sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
