Pullman, Washington Logo Design

Virtually every new Pullman organization knows they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the key role their logo will take in their success, or why one business logo performs far better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term influence on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Pullman, Washington companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.
Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Pullman, Washington coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an older section of the city and wished to cast a nostalgic vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by designing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Pullman, Washington clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Pullman, Washington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Pullman, Washington traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Pullman logo design but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Pullman logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Pullman, Washington book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Pullman logo design used for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Pullman, Washington, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that carried a sense of ease and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the style functions and renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell off their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Pullman logo design dsign with a graphic which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really produced for an Pullman, Washington regional farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to produce a graphic that projected confidence, success, and wealth.

Pullman Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for externally dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a well-known sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
