Union Hill-Novelty Hill Logo Design

Each and every new Union Hill-Novelty Hill venture understands that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully realize the essential role their logo can play in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Union Hill-Novelty Hill companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Union Hill-Novelty Hill coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an old part of the area and wished to visualize an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of creating a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs developed for Union Hill-Novelty Hill medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun center in Union Hill-Novelty Hill.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Union Hill-Novelty Hill travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Union Hill-Novelty Hill logo but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Union Hill-Novelty Hill logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Union Hill-Novelty Hill book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a published book considering that it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many instances one of the items people usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Union Hill-Novelty Hill logo style made use of for advertising and a label style for Vintage Case includes an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Union Hill-Novelty Hill, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which projected an atmosphere of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious course of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo design which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is generally the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout produced for a horse cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software program designer the design attributes and also legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Union Hill-Novelty Hill business logo dsign using an image that seizes the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t really designed for an Union Hill-Novelty Hill area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to create a brand mark that projects confidence, success, and opulence.
Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is similar to a popular sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
