West Virginia Logo Design

Each and every new West Virginia business professional understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners entirely recognize the key role their company logo will perform in their success, or precisely why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long-term effect on the success of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help West Virginia  companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.
Retro logo design of a bike produced for a West Virginia, West Virginia coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an old section of the city and wanted to project a vintage atmosphere without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by developing a custom logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for West Virginia, West Virginia clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family fun center in West Virginia, West Virginia.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for West Virginia, West Virginia travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Virginia logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

West Virginia logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective viewpoints on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of challenges, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for West Virginia, West Virginia publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a published book since it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems that in many cases 1 of the items individuals tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

West Virginia logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in West Virginia, West Virginia, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which communicated an atmosphere of relaxation and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of creating just a stylized orchid but rather crafted a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo design for a software application programmer the layout features as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their West Virginia business logo dsign along with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really composed for an West Virginia, West Virginia regional farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this particular logo was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

West Virginia Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo developed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
