POINTERS ON IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your organization. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Weirton LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish memorable brands. We have performed brand identity design work for mechanics, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you may have come across in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to perform, we perform in-house. Irrespective of the kind of project we accept, logo design, web page, trade show booth, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s work to organizations located outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your design project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Weirton organization knows they need a logo, however few start-ups fully recognize the essential role their company logo will make in their becoming successful, or why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and long-term influence on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Weirton companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of marking something so that it could be identified, its origin originates from the mark branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand symbolizes virtually anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising agencies. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when somebody says “I am in branding”… it simply sounds much more impressive, probably it’s since the majority of people do not recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual aspects of a product or business that influence perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors utilized but can also include audio, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps form the perception of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop sites as well as software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, results and understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Weirton coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old section of the town and hoped to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by developing a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Weirton clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun facility in Weirton.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Weirton travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Weirton logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Weirton logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo realize how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s share of obstacles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Weirton book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a published book because it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many cases 1 of the things consumers tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Weirton logo design used for advertising and marketing and also a label style for Vintage Case features an antiquated font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Weirton, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design developed for a Weirton hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which communicated a sense of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the attention on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian steed logo design developed for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique business logo concept tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having an identifiable head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable equine types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Weirton Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, style includes a customized script font which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, style contains a changed manuscript font style which floats over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the design attributes and iconic Weirton component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Develop logo design created for a Weirtoninterior designer, layout function a series of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Weirton interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who arranges, explores, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site assessments, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Weirton, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have been customized to connect straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Weirton logo design project was performed for a management advisor that assists business leaders to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Weirton business logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell off their used products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Weirton logo design design utilizing an image that garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Weirton company logo design has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually developed for an Weirton area farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to produce a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Weirton Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design developed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is similar to a well-known Weirton sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
