Milwaukee Logo Design

Virtually every new Milwaukee venture knows they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners entirely realize the key role their logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo works better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term effect on the financial success of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Milwaukee businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Milwaukee coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an older section of the city and hoped to project a retro vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via creating a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Milwaukee clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family members fun facility in Milwaukee.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Milwaukee travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Milwaukee logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Milwaukee logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral opinions on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo realize how important a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s share of hurdles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Milwaukee book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it is the most essential part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many cases 1 of the traits consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Milwaukee logo layout used for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Milwaukee, design include an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that carried a spirit of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo style for a software application designer the design features and also renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Milwaukee business logo dsign using an illustration that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really designed for an Milwaukee regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to design a image that projects assurance, financial success, and opulence.
Logo design created for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is evocative a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
