Racine, Wisconsin Logo Design

Virtually every new Racine company knows they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely understand the crucial role their logo design will perform in their success, or the reason that one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Racine, Wisconsin businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Racine, Wisconsin coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old part of the city and really wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by designing a trademark concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Racine, Wisconsin medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable center in Racine, Wisconsin.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - created for Racine, Wisconsin traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Racine logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Racine logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of challenges, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Racine, Wisconsin book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most vital part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many cases 1 of the traits people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Racine logo design used for marketing and a label style for Vintage Instance features an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Racine, Wisconsin, design include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it appears that every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which projected an atmosphere of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software programmer the design features and famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Racine logo dsign with an image that grabs the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t actually created for an Racine, Wisconsin area farm it was in reality created for an investments broker, and this brand was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce a brand mark that projects self-confidence, effectiveness, and wealth.

Racine Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo created for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
