Watertown, Wisconsin Logo Design

Every new Watertown venture knows they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly are aware of the pivotal role their logo design can make in their financial success, or precisely why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the success of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Watertown, Wisconsin businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Watertown, Wisconsin coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an older section of the town and wanted to visualize a nostalgic feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks via creating a custom logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria designed for Watertown, Wisconsin medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a household fun facility in Watertown, Wisconsin.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Watertown, Wisconsin travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Watertown logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Watertown logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get honest judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Watertown, Wisconsin book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most vital part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it looks like that in many instances one of the things individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to confering a spirit of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Watertown logo style used for advertising as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Watertown, Wisconsin, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every single dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that communicated a feeling of peace and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is more often than not the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application designer the design features and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Watertown logo design dsign along with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Watertown, Wisconsin regional farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to produce a image that projects assurance, success, and opulence.

Watertown Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design made for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is evocative a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
